andrea belottiTorino defeated Inter 2-1 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday evening, edging increasingly clear of the Serie A drop zone.

Mauro Icardi scored his 13th of the season from the penalty spot to get the game’s opening goal, only for Cristian Molinaro to cancel it out early in the second-half.

Joao Miranda received his marching orders soon after for a poor challenge and then Yuto Nagatomo got a red card for a late foul. Andrea Belotti then completed the Granata comeback with the resulting penalty.

Following a well received round of applause in appreciation of AC Milan legend, Cesare Maldini, it was the Nerazzurri who began the better of the two sides.

It took until the 15th minute of the half for the first real chance to occur and it came thanks to a deliberate handball. Brozovic’s shot struck Emiliano Moretti on the arm, leaving Icardi to convert and subsequently hand Roberto Mancini’s side the lead.

The goal took the wind out of Torino’s attacking intent, with the majority of chances falling to both Brozovic and Icardi, yet they were unable to apply the finishing touches going into half-time.

Giampiero Ventura’s team talk must have had some effect on his players when after just five minutes of the restart, Samir Handanovic was forced into a fine save from Belotti.

Il Toro’s persistence paid off two minutes later though, Lopez flicking the ball into the path of Molinaro who accurately poked home.

Things went from bad to worse for the Nerazzurri thanks to Miranda picking up a second yellow card for a niggling foul, and then Nagatomo got his marching orders due to a foul in the peanlty area, consequently giving Torino a chance to take the lead from the spot.

Belotti successfully sent Handanovic the wrong way to give the visitors an unlikely victory.
