Inter, though not until the beginning of the 2017-18 season.

The Argentine coach has recently spoken of his desire to one day manage Inter, where he spent two seasons as a player before joining Lazio, and Biscione’s hierarchy would also be keen on bringing him to the club.

Current Inter boss Roberto Mancini will remain in his post until the end of his contract in 2017, according to Tuttosport, but will not be offered a new contract with the Nerazzurri.

Simeone has led Atletico Madrid since 2011, but his friendship with Inter vice president Javier Zanetti coupled with his history at the club mean he is likely to be keen on the switch.

The former midfielder has enjoyed great success in Spain, including winning a league title and leading Atletico to the Champions League final.
