Andrea Mancini

Screen Shot 2016-04-22 at 00.56.30

Background: Born August 13, 1992 (23 years old) in Genoa.

Current Team: DC United.

Previous Team(s): Mancini has played for a whole wack of teams, most recently in Hungary with Budapest Honved and Szombathelyi Haladas. However, he has seen his most playing time for the lower division, Spanish side Real Valladolid B.

Position: Midfield / Attacking Midfield.

What to Watch Out For: While Mancini usually plays as an attacking midfielder, don’t be surprised if you see him playing further up top with DC. Much like with Sebastian Giovinco at Toronto, MLS prefers to use their European purchases as primarily goal scoring pieces.

Interesting Fact: Yes, Mancini is the son of Inter coach, Roberto. However, he is not the only active Andrea Mancini with a famous father. Felice Mancini’s son, also named Andrea, currently plays for L’Aquila, on loan from Pescara.

Paolo Tornaghi

Paolo Tornaghi Chicago Fire

Previous Team(s): Tornaghi is a MLS veteran, having played with the Chicago Fire since 2012. He signed for the Vancouver Whitecaps in 2014, before being loaned to Vancouver Whitecaps FC U-23 and Whitecaps FC 2; he re-signed for the senior squad this year. He began his professional career with Inter, but was loaned to Como and Rimini without playing a single match for the Nerazzurri.

Background: Born June 21 1988 (27 years old), just outside Milan.

Position: Goalkeeper.

What to Watch Out For: How much playing time he’ll see playing second to starting Danish goalkeeper, David Ousted.

Interesting Fact: According to MLS.com, Tornaghi was named Whitecaps’ 2015 Humanitarian of the Year. So, there’s that.
