Napoli InsigneNapoli beat Hellas Verona 3-0 at the Stadio San Paolo on Sunday afternoon.

The Partenopei dominated the first-half and took the lead in the 33rd minute through Manolo Gabbiadini. In first-half injury time Lorenzo Insigne converted a penalty to double the Neapolitans’ lead.

In the second-half Jose Callejon sealed a routine win in the 70th minute.

The match began in a vibrant fashion and Napoli could have opened the scoring in the 14th minute when Marek Hamsik’s floated ball over the top of the Hellas Verona defence was superbly taken down by Gabbiadini, but the former Sampdoria forward’s shot smacked the post.

The Mastini were struggling to keep the Neapolitans out and were lucky not to concede when Insigne’s sharp turn and exquisite through ball played in Gabbiadini, but once again the Italian was denied, not by the post but by a brilliant stop from Pierluigi Gollini.

Gollini was in superb form yet again when he denied Gabbiadini from two yards out following a smart low-cross from Callejon.

Eventually Gollini could no longer keep Napoli at bay. Hamsik’s superb pass found Callejon in the penalty area who volleyed an effort straight at Gollini, but the Italian palmed the save straight to Gabbiadini who headed the ball past Gollini.

Just before half-time Napoli were awarded a penalty when Samuel Souprayen clipped Callejon in the penalty area, Souprayen was sent-off and Insigne converted the penalty expertly.

After the interval the Partenopei continued to be in the ascendancy but struggled to create many chances until the 70th minute when Omar El Kaddouri got in behind the Mastini defence and slide a pass back to Callejon who simply drove his shot into the net.

The result leaves Napoli in second place whilst Hellas Verona stay at the foot of the table.
