Udinese Calcio v SSC Napoli - Serie ANapoli have received a boost ahead of the title run-in after successfully appealing Gonzalo Higuain’s four match ban.

The 28-year-old Argentine forward received a straight red card for his outburst towards referee Massimiliano Irrati during his side’s 3-1 defeat at Udinese on April 3.

Higuain gave evidence himself and has had his suspension reduced by one game upon appeal, meaning the former Real Madrid star will be available to face Roma at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on April 25.

“I have always respected the rules in my career,” Higuain stated.

“I find it unfair to be handed such a heavy punishment and I did not mean to insult anyone.

“Before this match against Udinese, I have played so many professional matches and was sent off just once, during my time when I was with Real Madrid.”
