US Citta di Palermo v SS Lazio - Serie ALazio defeated Palermo 3-0 at the Stadio Renza Barbera in Serie A on Sunday night.

The Aquile made a lightning start to the match and opened the scoring through Miroslav Klose in the 10th minute. Five minutes later Klose doubled Lazio’s lead before second-half substitute Felipe Anderson made sure the win was sealed in the 72nd minute.

Lazio began the match in determined fashion and opened the scoring in the 10th minute. Antonio Candreva’s floated corner fell straight to the feet of Klose and the veteran poacher made no mistake, blasting his shot past Stefano Sorrentino.

Two minutes later Keita Balde broke down the left-wing before cutting inside and firing off a fierce shot which was saved expertly by Sorrentino.

Palermo were all at sea and a minute later they conceded a second. Keith Balde drove into the penalty area once more and fired a wicked shot which squirmed high into the air off Sorrentino and into the path of Klose, who nodded home from a yard out.

Just before half-time Keita Balde was superbly played in behind the Rosanero defence and the Senegalese winger managed to round the goalkeeper, but his shot was excellently blocked by Giancarlo Gonzalez.

After the interval the game opened up and Lazio should have trebled their lead when Klose’s header following a Keita Balde cross, was narrowly tipped wide by Sorrentino.

Eventually the Aquile sealed the win. Federico Marchetti’s goal-kick was flicked on by Klose and into the path of Anderson, who clipped a shot past Sorrentino to make it 3-0.

The result leaves Palermo in 18th place in the league table whilst Lazio move above Chievo and into eighth place.
