montellaSampdoria coach Vincenzo Montella is refusing to be drawn into a referee controversy, after seeing his side fall to a 1-0 defeat at home against AC Milan on Sunday evening.

Dodo looked to have given the home side a lead after 25 minutes before the goal was ruled back for offside, but Montella refrained from judgement of the decision.

“I do not like to speak of referees,” Montella told Rai Sport.

“Mistakes can be made but it was a difficult decision and I cannot say definitively if it was a goal or not.

“We did everything in our power to get something out of this match but we must regroup and begin thinking about Sassuolo and Lazio because we need points.”

In light of this controversy, Montella was asked to comment on video replay that is set to be introduced in Italy next season.

“We will need to find a middle ground because we don’t want matches to become unnecessarily long, but I’m sure we will find a way that works,” Montella concluded.
