Torino AtalantaTorino completed a 2-1 win over Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin on Sunday afternoon.

Bruno Peres and one Maxi Lopez were on target for the Granata and despite a late strike from Luca Cigarini il Toro held on.

The first real opportunity came the way of the club from Bergamo, goalkeeper Daniele Padelli forced into tipping a driven effort from Boukary Drame round the post. Chilean striker Maurizio Pinilla had scored a bicycle kick the previous week against AC Milan but he fluffed his lines early on, sending a perfect cross from Alejandro Gomez wide of the post.

Despite their chances to score, Atalanta would concede with ten minutes left in the half. The ball in behind from Afriyie Acquah was met at full speed by Bruno Peres, who powered his shot into the top corner to break his goal-scoring duck for the season.

In the second half the home side doubled their lead after 20 seconds, Maxi Lopez racing away from the unsuspecting Guglielmo Stendardo and finishing delightfully past Marco Sportiello for his fourth of the campaign. At the other end Padelli came to the rescue, jumping on the loose ball in the area before Pinilla could pounce.

Bruno Peres was viewed to handle the ball and the referee awarded a free kick, which Luca Cigarini converted superbly; giving the visitors a lifeline. Serge Gakpe came close to leveling the score in the dying minutes, but sent his header straight at Padelli. The pressure was relieved on Torino with the expulsion of Marten de Roon for a second bookable offence, and the Granata held on.

The result takes Torino onto 39 points, level with Empoli in 11th while Atalanta remain in 13th for the time being.
