Udinese-owned Polish midfielder Piotr Zielinski has confirmed that he has held talks with Jurgen Klopp about a summer move to Liverpool.
Zielinski has spent the past two seasons on loan at Empoli and has impressed on the Tuscan club’s return to Serie A, scoring four league goals this season.
“There’s something behind these rumours, Jurgen Klopp is very interested in me and we have spoken about my future a few times,” Zielinski told Polish media outlet Sportowe Fakty.
The 21-year-old midfielder joined Udinese in 2011 and played for the club in Serie A on 19 occasions before his loan spell at Empoli, and he has also been capped by Poland 13 times, scoring three goals.
Former Borussia Dortmund coach Klopp has been in charge at Liverpool since October 2015, and is expected to revolutionise the club’s squad this summer.
Klopp is also a long-term admirer of Juventus target Mario Gotze, who has fallen out of favour at Bayern Munich.
