Ventura-TorinoTorino coach Giampiero Ventura has praised his side’s impressive performance after they came from behind to defeat Inter 2-1 at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Il Toro had not won in Serie A since defeating Palermo in February, a run stretching back six games that left them just eight points above the relegation zone.

“We’ve spent the last three months away from our usual selves,” Ventura told Sky Sport Italia. “This win is important for us.

“It is also important for the club as a whole, and of course the fans. The game is confirmation of what we have said in recent months.

“That when we play our football, the team shows its value. Tonight we deservedly won and played a good match.

“My players showed the right spirit and many now know the heights they can reach.”

Both Inter and Torino secured a penalty kick each during the match, although Ventura has refused to discuss the referee’s controversial decisions.

“In my honest opinion,” said Ventura. “Having seen them on the television, our spot-kick was clear.”

“The other, in regards to Moretti [Emiliano], I saw very little in it.

“But, as usual, I do not wish to talk about refereeing incidents.”
