Despite losing the final of the Coppa Italia 1-0 in extra time to Juventus, AC Milan‘s Gianluigi Donnarumma has insisted that he was pleased with the performance of his teammates and is optimistic ahead of the forthcoming Serie A season.
In terms of the Rossoneri’s success during this campaign, they notably missed out on obtaining European qualification for the third consecutive season, and also finished in a meagre seventh place in the Italian league standings.
“Of course we are disappointed,” Donnarumma told the Milan Channel following the match. “We wanted to win, and we played well right until the end.
“We proved tonight that we can play against the best, the result is disappointing but we will look forward and use tonight as something to build upon for next season.”
