abbiati ac milanNewly retired AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has lambasted the club’s current crop of players for their poor display of attitude this past season.

The Rossoneri concluded another disappointing campaign in seventh place, missing out on both silverware and European competition after losing to Juventus in the Coppa Italia final which has led the the 38-year-old to question the conduct of his former teammates.

“There were four or five players that didn’t do what was asked of them, and I’m not speaking about making mistakes on the field,” Abbiati told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“If it was just one player then we could have isolated the situation but because there were so many players, it was impossible to do so.

“As a symbolic example, consider that when Carlos Bacca was subbed off against Carpi, he left the pitch without waiting for the end of the match and without acknowledging the player who replaced him.

“In my heyday, Gennaro Gattuso would have shown daggers.”
