Juventus FC v Carpi FC - Serie AJuventus defeated Carpi 2-0 at the Juventus Stadium in the Sunday lunchtime game as the Serie A champions extended their lead at the top of the league table by 15 points.

Hernanes opened the scoring for La Vecchia Signora and Simone Zaza, who had replaced Alvaro Morata at half-time, sealed the win late in the second half.

In the first half, Juventus dictated the play as Carpi soaked up some early pressure, with the Biancorossi looking to hit the hosts on the counter-attack whenever the opportunity arose.

Paul Pogba had a volley saved by Carpi goalkeeper Vid Belec while Morata and Daniele Rugani both missed the target with headers. Simone Verdi had the best chance for the visitors, forcing Gianluigi Buffon to save the shot with his feet.

Hernanes gave the Bianconeri the lead three minutes before half-time when he turned Kwadwo Asamoah’s low cross in from the outside of the box and beat Belec at the near post.

The second half was a rather cagey affair with Juventus trying to hold onto the ball and Carpi were trying to avoid a humiliation. For 35 minutes, the only shots of note were a long-range shot from Asamoah and another by Carpi substitute Kevin Lasagna.

With 10 minutes remaining, Pogba crossed from the right-wing and Zaza headed the ball in at the near post.

The victory takes Juventus to 88 points in the Serie A table whereas Carpi remain three points above the relegation zone with 35 points.
