ballardini zampariniPalermo coach Davide Ballardini praised the attitude of the his team after narrowly surviving Serie A’s relegation battle.

The Rosanero defeated Hellas Verona 3-2 on Sunday night and the tactician was happy to have returned to the Sicilian club with the belief that he was the right man to help the club find salvation.

“Palermo saved themselves when we all went in the same direction, with the objective only to stay in Serie A,” Ballardini told La Domenica Sportiva.

“Perhaps passion and madness made me return. I was convinced that I could do a good job because I knew the players.”

Ballardini’s future at Palermo appears to be unclear but the coach is expected to speak to Rosanero president Maurizio Zamparini about the possibility of staying on.

“I turn on my phone for only three or four hours after the game,” Ballardini added.

“I do not know if president Zamparini called or sent me a message, he suffered a lot this season so we are pleased to have achieved our goal together.”
