Napoli are reportedly set to battle over Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat during the summer transfer window.
The Nerazzurri are looking for a right-back to compete with Danilo D’Ambrosio for a starting spot, while the Bianconeri are looking for someone to eventually replace aging Stephan Lichtsteiner and the Partenopei are likely to sell Christian Maggio in addition to potentially losing in-demand defender Elseid Hysaj to a top European club.
According to Newcastle Chronicle, after their relegation to the Football League Championship the Magpies could be willing to let the player go for a reduced fee.
As it stands, the 26-year-old Netherlands international is currently a significant financial presence for the second division side, as his weekly wage amounts to £60,000.
Janmaat accumulated 32 appearances with Newcastle during this Premier League campaign, scoring two goals and delivering four assists.
