Rumours had been swirling over the past week that the former AC Milan coach had been chosen to lead the Granata next season and the selection has now been formalized.

“Torino Football Club is pleased to announce that Sinisa Mihajlovic will be our new coach next season, the technician signing a two-year contract,” the club’s official statement reads.

The 47-year-old was sacked by the Rossoneri in April but was not without work for very long, and the Serbian is pleased with his new role.

“To be able to work within a prestigious organization with a glorious history fills me with a great sense of pride,” Mihajlovic said immediately following the appointment.

“The supporters are known throughout Italy for their passion and commitment to the team, values that I share and I cannot wait to begin this unique experience.

“I want to thank president Urbano Cairo, director Gianluca Petrachi and all of Torino for the trust which they have placed in me.”

Former coach Giampiero Ventura was released from his duties just prior to the appointment, as the 68-year-old is all but set to take over for Antonio Conte behind the Italy bench at the conclusion of the European Championship.
