Serie A has a new single-season goalscoring king.
Napoli secured second place in the league with a dominating 4-0 victory over Frosinone, but it was the record-breaking efforts of Partenopei star striker Gonzalo Higuian which stole the show.
Pipita topped the all-time Serie A goal scoring charts by netting a hat trick during their final match of the season, giving the Argentine a total of 36 goals in just 35 games. Higuain broke Gunner Nordahl’s long-standing record of 35 goals set with AC Milan during the 1949-50 season.
