Inter have announced the signing of defender Caner Erkin on a free transfer from Fenerbahce.

The Nerazzurri have been linked with the left-back for several months and the club have now made the signing official.

“The Turkish defender, out of contract at Fenerbahce, joins the Nerazzurri club on a three-year contract starting from 1 July 2016,” the statement on the club’s official website reads.

The 27-year-old Turkey international is an offensive left-footed fullback known for his pace, accurate crossing and dead ball precision.

Erkin made 22 appearances across all competitions for the Yellow Canaries last season, registering two assists.

The Beneamata struggled for consistency at the left-back position last season, as on-loan Galatasaray defender Alex Telles failed to live up to expectations.

The move all but ensures that the Brazilian’s €8.5 million purchase option will not be picked up by the club.
