Juventus sporting director Giuseppe Marotta has confirmed that Alvaro Morata will leave the Bianconeri to return to Real Madrid this summer.

Speculation has surrounded the Spaniard’s future for some time now, with Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United also showing an interest, though Morata’s future now appears to lie at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

“Real Madrid will exercise their right to repurchase [Morata],” Marotta said to reporters. “We expect their offer in writing in the coming days, then we’ll see, but the number of possibilities that remain are few, and we will try to replace him with an equally good player.”

The 24-year-old moved to Turin in 2014 and has impressed during his stay at the Juventus Stadium, particularly in the Champions League. However, he has failed to find a consistent place for himself in Massimiliano Allegri’s starting XI.
