giovincoThe agent of Toronto striker Sebastian Giovinco is angry with Antonio Conte after not picking his client for the Italy squad at Euro 2016.

Giovinco moved to the American Major League Soccer in 2015 from Juventus and scored more goals than anyone else in his first season, as well as providing more assists than anyone else, however he was excluded from the 23-man squad former Azzurri coach Conte picked for the tournament in France.

“Considering that he scored as much as any other Italian offensive player and that Conte had strongly wanted a Juventus influence, it seemed like a pretty unmotivated choice,” D’Amico told Premium Sport.

“You have a guy that, in his first year in America, was top scorer, top assist maker, and won the Best Player award in a league that is certainly not similar to a Chinese one.”

In the MLS End of Season Awards, Giovinco was named as the Most Valuable Player of the year and Newcomer of the Year, and won the Golden Boot.

The 29-year-old also won several weekly awards for Player of the Week and Goal of the Week as well as being crowned the Best Player of the Month for July and August, while also being named in the Team of the Season.
