AC Milan now face foreign competition for the signature of Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
It had previously been speculated that a return to the city of Milan was possible for the 22-year-old, only to appear for the Rossoneri instead of Inter, for whom he played between 2013 and 2015.
As reported by Premium Sport, Milan now face English competition as Premier League side Liverpool have expressed their interest in bringing Kovacic to Anfield.
It is not the only other side to turn their attention to the Croatian international, however, as Borussia Dortmund are also hoping to acquire his services.
It follows a disappointing season for Kovacic following his move to Spain, where he regularly started from the bench for Los Blancos and scored just one goal in 34 games.
