Monaco sign veteran Roma goalkeeper

Roma goalkeeper Morgan De Sanctis on a one-year contract.

The 39-year-old, who spent the last three seasons in the Eternal City, leaves Serie A where he enjoyed spells with Pescara, Juventus, Udinese and Napoli. The Italian also played for both Sevilla and Galatasaray outside of the peninsula.

“It is an honour to sign for AS Monaco,” De Sanctis said to the Ligue 1 side’s website after signing. “They are a big club in the French league and I am looking forward to helping the team achieve its targets this season.”

Vice-president, Vadim Vasilyev also spoke at the player’s unveiling, commenting that the player’s experience would be of great benefit to the side.

“We are very happy to welcome Morgan De Sanctis, he said. “This season he will provide AS Monaco with the benefit of his experience of the highest level.”

During his 84 appearances for the Giallorossi, De Sanctis kept an impressive 40 clean sheets, while also conceding 72 goals.
