Gomez was the centre of attention for La Dea last year, as the former Catania playmaker scored seven times for the Bergamaschi, as well as providing a further seven assists for his teammates, and has already admitted that he would be open to a move to a big club.

According to l‘Eco di Bergamo, Atalanta’s fierce rivals are keen to lure the diminutive Argentine away from the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d’Italia, with Adem Ljajic and Iago Falque set to exit the Eternal City side to join Torino.

That said, Atalanta president Antonio Percassi has stated already this month that the man affectionately referred to as Papu will be going nowhere this summer.

Gomez stole the show when the two sides met in Rome last November, scoring a brilliant opener before winning a late penalty as Atalanta claimed a 2-0 win at the Olimpico.

In the return fixture in April, Papu was on song once more, turning provider with two assists for Marco Borriello in a thrilling 3-3 draw.
