Former Empoli coach Marco Giampaolo has been confirmed as Vincenzo Montella’s successor as Sampdoria boss ahead of the 2016-17 season.
The Blucerchiati recently lost Montella, who only took charge at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in November 2015, as he succeeded Cristian Brocchi at AC Milan.
Giampaolo guided Empoli to a 10th place finish in Serie A last season, having taken the reins from Maurizio Sarri last summer.
Prior to his stint in Tuscany, the 48-year-old has coached a number of clubs, which has seen him take 12 positions across a 16-year coaching career to date, with the Blucerchiati job being his 13th appointment.
