leandro paredes empoliWith Leandro Paredes returning to Roma after spending time on loan at Empoli, Bundesliga side Schalke are reportedly keen to lure the youngster away from the Italian capital.

The 22-year-old impressed with the Azzurri last season, where he scored twice and assisted once in 33 Serie A appearances, as Marco Giampaolo’s side secured a comfortable 10th place finish.

According to Gazzamercato.it, the Argentine prospect is still mulling over an offer from Schalke, having already turned down a move to Sampdoria this summer.

Interest in Paredes does not stop at Samp and Schalke, with Zenit St. Petersburg also thought to be keeping tabs on the midfielder.

Despite the widespread interest, however, Paredes could look to remain in the Eternal City and fight for a regular place in Luciano Spalletti’s starting XI next season, especially with Iago Falque and Adem Ljajic thought be nearing a move to Torino.

Before joining the Giallorossi, the former Boca Juniors player spent time at fellow Serie A side Chievo.
