Fiorentina defender Marcos Alonso has left the Serie A side to complete a move to English Premier League giants Chelsea.

Blues boss Antonio Conte has made the Spanish international his first defensive reinforcement of the summer transfer market hours before the window closes, and it is a return to the Premier League for Alonso, who previously had a loan spell at Sunderland while with La Viola, before having played for Bolton Wanderers.

As announced on their official website, Chelsea have signed Alonso on a five-year contract and the player revealed how it was a dream come true to play at Stamford Bridge.

Outside of England and Italy, the right-back has also played for both the B side and the senior side at Spanish giants Real Madrid.

He played just twice for Fiorentina last season.
