Juventus might be worse than expected, with Claudio Marchisio set to miss out most of the rest of the calendar year.

The Italian international underwent a cruciate ligament operation in April which caused him to miss out on Euro 2016, and the presumed return date was mid to late October.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, however, Marchisio’s return to the field could be postponed until December, meaning Bianconeri coach Massimiliano Allegri will not only have to exclude him from his Serie A plans but also for the entirety of their Champions League group stage games.

With Paul Pogba expected to complete a move to Manchester United any day now, it changes the transfer market plans of Juventus who will likely need to search for a good midfielder to use while Marchisio is out on the sidelines.

One possibility is Miralem Pjanic, who has already joined the club, but considering the departure of Pogba and the injury history of Sami Khedira, the Italian champions may need extra reinforcements.

In order to do so, they will need to build up funds, and Hernanes and Roberto Pereyra are reportedly first in line to make way for a new man in the middle of the park.
