Roma will face Porto in their Champions League play-off match, with the first leg being played on August 17.
The Giallorossi finished third in Serie A last year, giving them automatic qualification to the play-off round, and will need to defeat Portuguese side Porto across two legs, played in Portugal on August 17 and in Rome August 23 to advance to the competition’s main Group Stage.
The draw took place on Friday afternoon, with the other ties in the play-off round being:
Steaua Bucuresti v Manchester City
Ajax v Rostov
Young Boys v Borussia Monchengladbach
Villarreal v Monaco
Dinamo Zagreb v Red Bull Salzburg
Dundalk v Legia Warsaw
Ludogorets Razgrad v Viktoria Plzen
Celtic v Hapoel Beer-Sheva
Kobenhavn v APOEL Nicosia
Roma have never played the Dragoes in a competitive match before, however the Portuguese side have the better history in the competition.
The Italians have never won a European competition, but Porto have claimed two Champions League titles and two Europa League titles.
Porto finished in third place in the Primeira Liga last season.
