Pruzzo: Juventus defence for Italy is questionable

Former Roma and Genoa striker Roberto Pruzzo has called into question the use of a Juventus-based defence by Giampiero Ventura for Italy.

The trio of Gianluigi Buffon, Andrea Barzagli and Giorgio Chiellini started the Azzurri’s 3-1 loss to France on Thursday night, with the other usual member of the back-line, fellow Bianconeri man Leonardo Bonucci, being injured on the bench.

“Looking at Italy’s match with France you could discuss some of Ventura’s choices,” Pruzzo told Radio Radio.

“I am referring to the mistakes made by Chiellini, Barzagli and Buffon, you could question the Italian defence.”

The so-called ‘BBC’ in the Italian squad has received mainly positive reviews since it was brought in by former coach Antonio Conte, and Italy’s Euro 2016 run was seem by many to be down to their solid back-line.
