Round four of the 2016/17 Serie A season saw the first major derby of the season, while the other nine fixtures included plenty of goals and quality play.
We at Forza Italian Football bring you a round up of each round every week, so here are this weekend’s winners and losers.
Winner – Inter
Following one of the Nerazzurri’s worst ever defeats in Europe, a 2-0 loss to Hapoel Be’er Sheva, the pressure was on to provide a big performance in the Derby d’Italia against Juventus. Inter didn’t disappoint as they came from behind for the second weekend running to win 2-1 after Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic netted twice in the final quarter of the game. However, unlike last weekend’s win against Pescara, which resembled a smash and grab win from Inter, the Nerazzurri completely deserved the three points against La Vecchia Signora.
Regarding their defence, Frank De Boer’s side were on top form constricting the Bianconeri’s build-up and therefore limiting them to very few clear-cut chances. In attack Inter looked dynamic with Mauro Icardi, Antonio Candreva and Ivan Perisic, all of whom created numerous problems for the Juventus defence. More performances like this for the Nerazzurri and qualifying for the Champions League won’t look like the distant target it did a couple of weeks ago.
