Aurelio De Laurentiis NapoliNapoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has proposed the idea of creating a European Super League featuring 16 of the best teams around Europe in 2018.

The 2018/19 Champions League is yet to be confirmed and De Laurentiis has reiterated that he feels it would be beneficial to create a European Super League instead.

According to reports on TuttoMercatoWeb, the idea would be that the winners and runners-up of each of the major European tournaments merge together to create one European Super League featuring 16 teams, replacing the Champions League in the process.

The top five European leagues are in England, Spain, Italy, France, and Germany.

It remains to be seen whether or not UEFA will take this suggestion into consideration.

De Laurentiis’ side are taking part in this season’s Champions League and have a 100% record with two wins out of two, and are top of their table with six points.
