Round four of the 2016-17 Serie A season saw the first major derby of the season, while the other nine fixtures included plenty of goals and quality play.
We at Forza Italian Football bring you a round up of each round every week, so here are this weekend’s winners and losers.
Winner – Iago Falque
Two games, three goals and one assist, it’s been an impressive last two weeks from the Barcelona academy product. On Sunday the Spaniard looked like the player who scored 13 goals for Genoa in the 2014-15 season and not last seasons underwhelming winger at Roma. Falque was magnificent as Torino got past Fiorentina beating them 2-1. He opened the scoring in energetic fashion intercepting a loose pass from Borja Valero before steaming forward and curling in a calm finish beyond Ciprian Tatarusanu.
In the second-half, Falque showed his creative side as he picked out Marco Benassi’s clever run beyond the Viola backline, with an impudent lofted pass which Benassi gratefully smashed into the net. If Falque can keep this form up for the majority of this season and with Andrea Belotti leading the attack, Torino could achieve something special this season.
