Loser – Palermo

palermo

The stench of neglect is rife in Sicily. This isn’t a comment on the lack of economic production that comes from that region, more a feeling that one gets from this current Rosanero side. Monday night’s 4-1 defeat to Torino certainly made unpleasant viewing for Palermo fans who are suffering the brunt of Maurizio Zamparini’s increasing madness but also waning interest in the club.

The squad currently represents a collection of journeymen footballers; players past their sell-by date or simply players of low quality. The game against Il Toro illustrated this perfectly as Roberto De Zerbi’s side were outclassed by an impressive Torino side. Palermo once again look set to be mired in a relegation dogfight and, until Zamparini sells the club, this will probably remain the case.
