After confirming his departure from LA Galaxy, former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard could make a surprise move to Serie A side Inter.

It was announced that the 36-year-old will not be renewing his contract in the American Major League Soccer, and rumours had circulated that he could take up a coaching role back in England with MK Dons.

However, reports from The Independent claim that Inter are hopeful that Gerrard might not retire from playing for another six months and end his career at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

They reportedly had this idea while Frank De Boer was still coach, before he left and was replaced by Stefano Pioli.

Gerrard joined Liverpool’s senior squad in 1998 and stayed there until 2015, scoring 120 goals in 504 league games, before signing an 18-month contract with LA Galaxy in January 2015.
