de-boer-interInter have confirmed the news as expected on Tuesday that Frank de Boer has been relieved of his duties at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The Dutch coach spent 85 days in the role after replacing Roberto Mancini over the summer and his final match was a 1-0 defeat away to Sampdoria which left the Nerazzurri 12th in the table after 11 games.

A statement on the club’s official website confirmed the news and revealed that Primavera coach Stefano Vecchi will be temporarily promoted for the Europa League tie with Southampton on Thursday.

Vecchi has since taken over at training after the news was confirmed.

The former Bologna and Lazio coach Stefano Pioli has been touted as one of the favourites to replace de Boer on the bench.

De Boer himself took to Instagram to post a message offering his reaction:

“It’s a shame that it’s finished like this,” he said.

“This project needed more time to be brought forward. I want to thank all the fans for their support that they have given me in these months. Forza Inter.”
