The name Paolo Maldini will always be inextricably linked to AC Milan but the club icon admitted that he is no rush to return to the Rossoneri.

Maldini, whose father Cesare also played for and coached the club, spent 25 years with the Diavolo and set an appearance record by turning out for the club 902 times.

He left upon his retirement in 2009 and has yet to return to the club in any kind of official capacity and the 48-year-old isn’t planning on one any time soon, having offered his thoughts on the situation at the Diavolo.

“Milan are in my heart and always will be,” he told the Planet Futbol podcast. “My father was the captain at this club and I grew up with these colours.

“‘d be happy to return but it isn’t that easy. In the past, that has been something that is seen as a problem. Of course I’d love to go back but right now, I don’t need to work for the club.

“We will see what happens in the future but at the moment, it is a complicated situation.”
