Full debut not enough for ambitious Schick

Czech forward Patrik Schick was pleased to have made his full Roma debut, but could not hide his disappointment as he marked the occasion with a goalless draw at Chievo.

The summer signing from Sampdoria has found playing time hard to come by so far because of injury, but made his first start for the Giallorossi at the Stadio Bentegodi coming in for Edin Dzeko on Sunday afternoon.

However, it was not a full debut to savour for Schick with the 0-0 draw leaving AS Roma potentially six points adrift of Napoli who can reclaim top spot with victory over Fiorentina later today.

“I am naturally happy to have played my first full 90 minutes for Roma, but the draw was not what we wanted today and was not ideal, ” the 21 year-old forward told Forza Italian Football.

“But there is still a long way to go. It’s not over and there are a lot of matches to go.”

Roma will also discover their fate in the last-16 of the Champions League next week, though Schick had no preferences about potential opponents, citing all as strong.

“All the teams at this stage of the competition are very strong,” he went on, “So, I don’t know as it’s really difficult to choose one.”
