Chievo goalkeeper Stefano Sorrentino believes Roma have what it takes to fight for the Serie A title this season after he was decisive in holding the Giallosrossi to a goalless draw at the Stadio Bentegodi on Sunday afternoon.
The veteran shot-stopper put in a man of the match performance to slow down the Giallorossi’s title march in the round 16 Serie A clash. But Sorrentino maintained that Roma are still one of the teams who can push for the Scudetto – last won by the club in 2001.
“They definitely have the ability to fight for the title,” Sorrentino said, speaking exclusively to Forza Italian Football. “They are up there with the likes of Napoli, Juventus and Inter in the battle for the title.
“They will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.”
Sorrentino stole the limelight with a string of saves but was left impressed by Eusebio Di Francesco’s men.
“I think Roma will have their say in the title race as they are an excellent team and they clearly showed that this afternoon,” he stated.
