After a disappointing spell with Inter, Geoffrey Kondogbia has attempted to explain why things went so wrong for him and admitted he hopes he does not return.

The midfielder joined the Nerazzurri from Monaco in 2015 but has failed to deliver on his promise in Ligue 1 or justify the €40 million that Inter paid for his services.

He has regained his form in LaLiga this season, where is currently on loan with Valencia, and believes many of his problems in Milan were down to issues with the club rather than himself.

“From my point of view, Inter are mostly suffering from one big problem and that is the lack of balance and consistency,” Kondogbia said in an interview with Cadena Ser.

“In the space of two years, I had four or five coaches and had many teammates who arrived and left. The situation was a bit chaotic and when it is like that, then a player, especially a young one, finds it difficult under these conditions.

“A club needs stability and to continue on a path that it has set for itself even if things don’t go well initially. A club must have trust in their players and coach but things were difficult.”

Although Kondogbia is only on loan at Valencia, the 25-year-old was adamant that he hopes to make the move permanent and does not plan on turning things around in Italy.

“I’m happy here and [if I had to] I would pay the €25m for my contract myself to join Valencia,” he added. “I get on very well with the coach Marcelino, who has great trust in me.”
