With the end of the current campaign closing in, Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon still appears undecided as to whether he will continue playing next season.

The veteran shotstopper was thought to be considering hanging up his famous gloves, but has indicated that his is not ready to call time just yet.

“I will have to consider, together with the company, at what level of energy I am at and whether I can continue or not,” Buffon told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

“When I will stop depends entirely on my motivation, as long as I want to fight, I will go continue. After the passion, which motivated me in the early years, I set myself the goals and then to fight for an ever greater goal.”

However, even if the 40-year-old does decide that this will be the last in a Bianconeri shirt, it will be a career that he will be proud of.

“The thing that keeps me calm is the fact that, whatever my future, I feel very calm and grateful for how my career has turned out,” said the 2006 World Cup wiiner.

“I think what I have given to Parma, Juventus, the National team, and football, I have done so with extreme seriousness and unselfishness, putting the good of the group first.”

After Fiorentina captain Davide Astori’s career was ended far too soon after his sudden death, Buffon once again paid tribute to his former teammate.

“[Astori] knew who he was and knew his limits and virtues,” claimed the Italian. “He was exactly how he presented himself.

“He was an exceptional boy and I’m glad that his name and the opinion of him has been raised this week, because he deserved it.”
