Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri insisted that his players were the ones worthy of praise after lifting a seventh consecutive Scudetto.

The Bianconeri sealed the title with a goalless draw against Roma last weekend, and were able to celebrate on Saturday after beating Hellas Verona 2-1 at the Allianz Stadium.

It marked Allegri’s fourth Serie A crown with the club, but the former AC Milan tactician was quick to point to his senior players as the reason behind the sustained success.

“The great champions have taught the squad more than I have ever done,” Allegri declared in his post match press conference. “You do not win over so many years by chance. We all had a common goal to win, but I only transmitted to the players some of my healthy madness.

“The availability and willingness of my players to accept my decisions has been crucial. The most difficult was against Torino when I had to deploy Alex Sandro on the left wing, but we have also been lucky.”

Juventus’ win saw a final appearance for stalwart and captain Gianluigi Buffon, as well as long-serving full-backs Stephan Lichtsteiner and Kwadwo Asamoah. Allegri admitted that the void the trio would leave would be felt, but insisted his side would be ready for a renewed assault on the Scudetto next term.

“Buffon, Lichtsteiner and Asamoah leave important presences in the changing room. Our strong mentality remains however, and today the season ends but we will start on zero points when the championship starts again.”

In addition to the four Scudetti with the club, Allegri has also won as many Coppa Italia trophies and reached two Champions League finals.
