Premier League club Arsenal are looking to jump the queue to land Juventus right-back Stephan Lichtsteiner on a free transfer this summer.

The Gunners are preparing for life without Arsene Wenger at the helm for the first time in 22 years, and new coach Unai Emery has already set about working on remoulding the team with new signings.

Top of the bill is Lichtsteiner, with Arsenal keen on bringing in the 34-year-old’s experience to a relatively young squad at the Emirates Stadium, report the BBC.

Lichtsteiner is out of contract in Turin next month and has already confirmed he will be bringing his hugely successful stay at Juventus to an end.

The Switzerland captain had drawn interest from German club Borussia Dortmund but Arsenal have now emerged as favourites to secure him.

Since arriving from Lazio in 2011, the former Lille right-back has lifted seven consecutive Serie A titles and four Coppa Italia crowns, whilst making 257 appearances for the Bianconeri.
