After two Loris Karius errors saw Liverpool fall to a 3-1 defeat in the Champions League final against Real Madrid, the Reds are ready to cut their losses and begin a renewed assault on AC Milan star Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Karius threw the ball against Karim Benzema’s outstretched leg to give the Spanish club an incredible opening goal, before fumbling a long-range Gareth Bale effort over the line late on to seal the defeat in Kiev, and his howlers have prompted Liverpool to make a new goalkeeper their top transfer priority.

This has led them to Milan teenager Donnarumma, who is currently experiencing a difficult relationship with the club’s ultras, and agent Mino Raiola has already begun working on a move to Anfield for his client, according to Premium Sport.

Facing the possibility of being barred from entering the Europa League after failing to meet Financial Fair Play regulations, the Rossoneri could be in need to sell their prize assets this summer.

Although the Italian international penned a new contract at the Stadio San Siro only last year, he could be available for €50 million.

Liverpool had previously shown an interest in Roma star Alisson, as well as Stoke City goalkeeper Jack Butland, but Raiola is keen to push Donnarumma towards the Premier League.

The 19-year-old has been Milan’s first choice goalkeeper since the age of 16, and has gone on to make 125 appearances for the Diavolo.
