Lisandro Lopez looks to be heading back to Benfica this summer from Inter, as the Nerazzurri are not interested in making his loan move permanent.

Inter brought in the central defender from Benfica in January on a loan with option to buy, but after making just one appearance for Inter – against Bologna – Luciano Spalletti has decided against activating the clause to purchase the Argentine outright.

According to Portuguese newspaper A Bola, the player will return to parent club Benfica and Espanyol are currently interested in a move for Lopez.

Lopez has played in La Liga before, signing for Getafe during the 2013-14 season, and he hopes a return to Spain could revitalise his career.

Meanwhile the Nerazzurri have already secured the services of Stefan de Vrij from Lazio on a free transfer, and after qualifying for the Champions League, could well retain the services of Joao Miranda, who looked set to leave the club this summer.
