Real Madrid left-back Marcelo is set to come up against one of Europe’s toughest foes in Mohamed Salah on Saturday night, but the Brazilian insisted he knows exactly what he has to do to handle Liverpool’s dangerman.

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp reportedly said Marcelo wasn’t a good defender, though the Brazlian wasn’t in the mood to hit back, and told reporters at his pre-match press conference he is happy with how things are going so far in his career.

You have won everything? What motivates you?

“Our motivation is to wake up, train, play good football and win every competition we play. We have won a lot, but that is the past and we want to play good football and win more trophies.

What are your match expectations?

“Both teams are similar, they attack hard. We are mindful of what we have to do, but in a final we have to see what will happen then we have to wait to see how it unfolds at the beginning. It will be a great show for people who are passionate about football.

What has changed from 2009 to now? When you last played Liverpool.

“Things change, but what hasn’t changed is we are ambitious and hungry to win.

Klopp said you aren’t a good defender, What do you think about that?

“I haven’t head him say it, but heard about it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I am happy with my work, and as are my teammates, the coach and those with the national team too. I do my work with modesty and humility, and have nothing to prove to anyone.

Liverpool have a great player in Salah, will that make your job more more difficult?

“I know exactly what I have to do, and I know what I need to do to help my team. Liverpool are a magnificent team and have a great season. We have to think about the whole team, not just one or two players, that is how you win games. It is a great opportunity to play in the final, and we’re here, as are Liverpool who also deserve it.

Klopp said he would prefer to be in Zidane’s position. Is Zidane the best coach in the world?

“The things we have achieved are part of the past, we always have to look to the future, we have to continue fighting, these are the the things which make you batter. His opinion won’t change anything for Zidane. One day you are the worst, the next day you are the best.
