Despite spending six years in the ranks of Juventus, former striker Raffaele Palladino has spoken out to advise Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin to resist the advances of the Serie A champions.

The 34-year-old played for the Bianconeri between 2002 and 2008, before moving to the Grifone and scoring seven goals in 58 league appearances during three years at the club.

“I hope you [Perin] think again, as you risk going to be second-choice,” Palladino wrote in La Repubblica.

“He, who by nature is a free spirit and needs to play and excel, would end up in an environment where to progress you have to be a robot.”

With the exit of veteran Gianluigi Buffon after 17 years with Juventus, the club are looking for a long-term replacement but after deputising for the 2006 World Cup winner last term, Wojciech Szczesny is viewed as the immediate successor.

Despite just 25 years old, Perin has been the Rossoblu number one since the start of the 2013/14 campaign, making 148 Serie A appearances over five seasons and become a regular in Italian national team squads.
