Roma have announced the signing of Croatia international Ante Coric, after agreeing a deal with Dinamo Zagreb.

The attacking midfielder flew to Rome on Saturday to undergo a medical and sign a contract with the Giallorossi, and the club confirmed on Monday that the deal had been completed.

Coric has penned a five year contract with the Lupi, who secured an initial €6 million agreement with Dinamo Zagreb, a statement on Roma’s official website declared.

Should Roma sell the 21-year-old before 30 June 2020, Dinamo will retain a right to 10% of the fee, or €2m, whichever is greater.

“I am very pleased to be at Roma, one of Europe’s biggest clubs,” Coric told ASRoma.com. “I have given everything to reach this level and I cannot wait for the chance to start showing what I am capable of.”

The former Red Bull Salzburg youth team player was met by sporting director Monchi to finalise the deal, and the Spaniard was keen to stress his delight at the move.

“We are delighted to welcome Ante Coric to the club. I believe that, with his signing, we have secured one of the emerging talents of European football,” Monchi claimed.

“I hope that, with hard work from the player and guidance from the coach, that talent can emerge even further and we can enjoy its quality for a long time.”

Coric has made four appearances for Croatia and was an unused squad member at Euro 2016. He has not been included in their squad for the upcoming World Cup in Russia however.
