AC Milan have abruptly ended their pursuit of Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini to focus on acquiring Daniele Baselli from Torino instead.

The Rossoneri opened talked with the Granata last month over the 26 year-old’s availability, with Baselli believed to be open to joining Milan this summer.

In a period that has seen Milan weigh up their options, CalcioNews24 claim the club’s hierarchy have decided to pursue the Italian despite Fellaini coming to the end of his contract.

Baselli would likely cost in the region of €20 million, which could prove a stumbling block while Milan await the decision regarding their possible expulsion from European competitions.

The wage demands may have put Milan off signing Fellaini, but the Belgian international is prepared to wait until after the World Cup to decide his future.

Time is of the essence for Milan, who plan on making a few timely raids in the transfer market to strengthen their side.
