Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic will not move to Barcelona this summer after the Spanish champions decided against a deal due to the costs involved.

Following the departure of former captain Andres Iniesta to Japanese football, the Blaugrana are keen to strengthen in the centre of the park this summer and identified the Bosnian as a potential purchase.

However, according to MARCA, Barcelona have pulled the plug on any discussions about the former Roma midfielder due to Juventus’ €80 million demands.

As a result of that large asking price, the Blaugrana’s Italian director Ariedo Braida has decided that Barcelona will focus their attention elsewhere and are no longer interested in Pjanic’s services.

It is believed that Barcelona will instead turn their attention to Gremio standout Arthur and they hope that a deal for the Brazilian can be brokered before the conclusion of the World Cup.

Pjanic joined the Bianconeri in the summer of 2016 from Serie A rivals Roma for a fee of €32m.
