After being knocked back in their attempts to sign Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann, Barcelona have turned their attention towards Juventus midfielder Miralem Pjanic.

The Spanish champions are keen to bring in a high-profile signing as they make a renewed push to win the Champions League, and had hoped to agree a deal for Griezmann.

However, following the France international’s decision to remain at the Wanda Metropolitana, Barcelona will instead look to address the departure of Andres Iniesta by testing Juventus’ resolve to hold on to Pjanic, report Mundo Deportivo.

The Blaugrana are set to face stern resistance in their pursuit of the Bosnian, with Juventus ready to hold out for €80 million for the 28-year-old playmaker, who had previously drawn interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite this, it is believed that Pjanic would offer a more feasible option than other targets such as PSG man Adrien Rabiot and Tottenham Hotspur’s Christian Eriksen.

Barcelona could look to negotiate a deal by including out-of-favour midfielder Andre Gomes as part of an offer, with the Portugal international struggling for playing time at Camp Nou.

Pjanic has scored 15 goals in 91 appearances for Juventus since arriving from Serie A rivals Roma in a €32m deal in 2016.
